The first cohort of trainee pilots has commenced study with Airways Aviation at a new Aviation Theory School in Dubai.

The students are undertaking a 15 week introduction to aviation theory - Aviation Foundation European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Basics. It is a unique course in the region, providing aspiring pilots with a key theoretical component of their pilot training.

For the Airways Aviation students, all of whom aspire to becoming commercial pilots for global airlines, the course is an important first step towards realizing that dream.

The Global CEO of Airways Aviation, Romy Hawatt, said flying had now become a a real option for students who may have been daunted by the prospect of a career in aviation.

“Our students can now commence their aviation theory training at a location close to home, before committing to the thrill and excitement of practical flight training in Australia or the UK,” he said.

“Our foundation courses are based on either EASA or Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requirements, both of which are highly recognized in Europe, Australia and internationally.

“Our tailored curriculum has been designed in consultation with industry and provides students with an achievable and meaningful pathway into practical flight training and the global aviation industry.”

Mahmoud Alhawaj, a student who has come to the UAE from Bahrain to undertake the Aviation Foundation – EASA Basics course, said it had been his life-long dream to become a pilot.

“I am very excited to be doing my training and I can’t wait to progress to flight training in the UK or Australia.”
