This training program has been collaboratively designed between TAFE NSW and Airways Aviation to deliver an exceptional learning experience with strong employment outcomes.

This integrated program is full time and will cover both theory and flight training.
For this joint program you will be enrolled with TAFE NSW who will deliver the theory component of the program at their Lismore campus. The flight training component of the program will be delivered by Airways Aviation on behalf of TAFE NSW at its Lismore Airport campus. Course certificate and/ or statement of attainment will be issued by TAFE NSW

Designed in conjunction with industry, the successful completion of this course will give you the knowledge and practical skills required to embark upon a career as a professional pilot. Pilots with a Commercial Pilot Licence work in a diverse range of industry sectors – from agriculture and tourism to aerial surveillance and passenger transport.

Focusing on both the theoretical and practical aspects of pilot training, you can build the essential skills required for a range of jobs within the aviation industry, including Air Charter, Flight Instructing, Aerial Operations and Airline Transport.

Theory training for this course covers:

  • aerodynamics
  • operations, performance and flight planning
  • aircraft general knowledge
  • navigation
  • meteorology
  • flight rules and air law
  • human factors

Flight Training:

Integrated Commercial Pilot Licence

This integrated program is full time and will cover both theory and flight training.

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum 17 years of age upon enrolment, 18 years of age to sit a flight test
  • Have a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • Have an Aviation Reference Number (ARN)
  • Hold a current Aviation Class 1 Medical
  • Be in possession of, or be able to obtain a current Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) for flight crew which includes a criminal history check
  • Five (5) hours of prior flight experience – a flight experience package is available for applicants with no flying experience
  • A language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) test
  • Be eligible to obtain General English Language Proficiency (GELP) with CASA.
  • Successful completion of screening interview with Senior staff of TAFE NSW and Airways Aviation
