Oxford, June 1, 2016: Global pilot training school Airways Aviation welcomed 17-year-old Afra Hazell to its Oxford headquarters on Tuesday, after winning a competition at the Pilot Careers Live event in London. Afra, an A-Level student at Loughborough College, Leicester, won a trip to the flight school, a guided tour and a one-hour flying lesson through the competition run by Airways Aviation.

Afra says:

“I’ve always loved aviation and everything to do with planes, so I went to the Pilot Careers Live event in March to find out a bit more about how I could become a pilot. I entered the Airways Aviation competition and was so excited when I found out I’d won a tour of the school and a free flying lesson.

It was the first time I’d been in a light aircraft and being able to fly myself was amazing. The view of Oxford from the air is incredible and I’m so happy I was given this opportunity. The pilot course at Airways Aviation looks great, the facilities are brand new and it has a really homely, yet professional feel. It would be a lovely place to study and is definitely on my list.”

Airways Aviation relocated from Coventry to Airways House at London Oxford airport in April, as demand for high-calibre commercial flight training has seen its UK-based cadet numbers double in 2015. Cadet numbers are predicted to rise to at least 150 in the coming year.
