I first heard about Airways Aviation from a colleague who’s son was studying his Airline Transport Pilot’s Licence at the Airways Aviation Academy in Oxford. After I decided to peruse options for flight training organisations myself, I made sure I spoke with as many pilots and training organisations as I could to explore my options. Airways definitely came out on top.
The instructors are all true experts in their fields, not just teachers. As a result they have a very deep understanding of their subjects. Questions outside of the scope of the course are usually answered to a very high standard and this helps cement the understanding of the topic in students. Additionally, all the
Airways staff team genuinely care about the students, and they will do anything and everything they can to get you through the challenge of ground school.
I trained and worked as an electronic and electrical engineer before joining Airways. I wanted to be a pilot from a very early age but couldn’t afford it. I was made redundant in June 2018, and I used that redundancy package to pursue my goal and fund my pilot training.
Research as many companies that offer training as you can! Airways Aviation was definitely the right choice for me, but everyone’s circumstances are different and you should explore all the options when researching flight training organisations. It’s just like paying for any service – you wouldn’t buy a house without viewing it, and flight training is no different.
Try and talk to the instructors and students of any FTO you’re considering to get a real impression of what it’s like to train there.
