Aspiring Pilots Invited to Test Their Flying Skills on the Gold Coast

The world’s fastest growing global flight training organisation, Airways Aviation, is inviting aspiring pilots of all ages to sign up for an Instructional Flight and Pilot Career Session next Saturday, February 14.

Created for anyone who dreams of flying - and targeted to school leavers around Australia - the event gives young men and women a unique chance to take their first flight alongside a qualified instructor.

It’s also a great chance for prospective students and their parents to discuss training and career options with qualified pilots and experienced instructors, and to tour the world-class flight training facilities at the Airways Aviation Gold Coast Pilot Training Academy.

Students from across Queensland, NSW and Victoria have already signed up for the three hour Pilot Career Session and Instructional Flight - but places are still available.

Each session includes an instructional flight in an aeroplane or helicopter, pilot briefings, flight simulator experience and one-on-one discussions with Airways Aviation instructors.

Students will learn what it takes to acquire a Commercial Pilot License approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), and hear first-hand about the massive global demand for qualified pilots.

Airways Aviation Managing Director Ted Kabbout said the aim of the sessions was to answer any questions that young people had about learning to fly while offering them a unique opportunity to take control of an aircraft and test their flying skills.

“With a projected shortage of commercial pilots worldwide, there’s never been a better time for school leavers to consider a flying career "he said.

Mr Kabbout said a career in aviation offered diverse and exciting employment opportunities - from working as a rescue helicopter pilot to flying for major global airlines.

“This is a great opportunity for students to find out all about the great job prospects that come with acquiring a pilot’s license.”

Sessions will be held throughout the day on February 14, with each session accommodating a maximum of four people. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend.

Limited places are still available for a Pilot Career Session and Instructional Flight on Saturday, February 14 at the Airways Aviation Pilot Training Academy, Gold Coast Airport.
