Global aviation training provider addresses urgent need for change in industry recruitment and crew evaluation
Brisbane, August 31, 2016: Airways Aviation is launching CREW, a comprehensive global aviation recruitment, screening and training programme to support the fast-growing aviation industry as it tackles the increasingly challenging task of pilot recruitment and retention.
The announcement comes as the industry pushes to keep pace with rapid global economic expansion, hampered by an increasing pilot shortage which is most pronounced in Asia. The Boeing 2016 Pilot and Technician Outlook predicts more than 248,000 pilots will be required in Asia over the coming 20 years, more than one third of the 617,000 pilots needed worldwide. Meanwhile 298,000 cabin crew will be required in Asia for the same period, more than double the number of any other region worldwide.
CREW, which stands for career, recruitment, evaluation and workforce, will enhance and streamline the recruitment and training process at every level – from student pilots through to Captains and cabin crew – allowing carriers to concentrate on company culture, route development and other key commercial enterprises to better serve customers and shareholders.
Ian Cooper, CEO Airways Aviation, says:
“We firmly believe that aviation careers and recruitment can be better managed and we are determined to deliver a new, truly global service, which benefits the individual and the industry. This is an exciting time to be part of aviation, and as the industry grows and adapts to provide improved services and connections for passengers, our training and recruitment methods must adapt to suit an increasingly fast-paced and high-pressure environment. CREW is the future of aviation recruitment, evaluation and training and we’re delighted to be delivering this programme in Asia, a region at the heart of modern aviation.”
The CREW programme caters for individuals at every career stage, from fATPL training and student pilot recruitment, through to pilot placement and video interviews. For carriers, CREW delivers recruitment programmes, COMPASS aptitude and simulator skills testing, type ratings and enhanced flight screening, as well as cabin crew training and assessment.
Training and evaluation can take place in cities across the globe thanks to Airways Aviation’s strong portfolio of pilot training academies and foundation schools, including EASA-certified schools in the UK and Spain, and CASA-certified schools in Australia. Airways boasts a strong global network of foundation schools, where pilots and students can undertake simulator and ground-based training in key hubs including Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Dubai, UAE; and Jakarta, Indonesia. Plans are in place to further expand the presence of foundation schools internationally.
